Spain extends World Cup qualification wins to 47

World champions Spain stretched their unbeaten run in World Cup qualification matches to 47 with an  easy  4-0  victory over Belarus courtesy of a hat trick from Pedro  in group i of European qualifying.

Captain Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck scored two goals each as England whipped minnows San Marino  5-0 to go atop group h .

Germany defeated the republic of Ireland 6-1 to solidify its position atop of group c while Sweden had a  2-1 win over the Faroe islands.

Elsewhere, in the group, Kazakhstan held Austria to a nil - all draw.

Italy pulled off hard fought 3-1 victory over Armenia to extend their lead at the top of group b.

The Czech republic had  a 3-1 win over Malta ,

their first win of their world cup qualifying campaign and Bulgaria drew 1-1 with Denmark to stay second in group b.

Group d leaders Netherlands recorded a 3-0 victory over Andorra and  Romania had  a 1-0 victory over turkey.

Russia collected  all three points  with a 1-0 defeat of  Portugal in group f while Israel thrashed Luxembourg 5-0 .

Slovakia remain in control of group g after a 2-1 win over latvia  while Lithuania beat

 Liechtenstein 2-0 in the same group.

Belgium  beat Serbia  3-0 in group a while  Croatia moved  into second after a 2-1 win over Macedonia .

In group e, leaders Switzerland were held to a 1-1 draw by Norway,  Iceland drew level at the top of the table with a 2-1 victory over Albania  and in the same group Slovenia beat Cyprus 2-0.
