A St. Ann pastor has been taken into custody after he posted a video of himself saying Prime Minister Andrew Holness, his family as well as parliamentarians will die for locking down the church.
Peter Chambers was detained following an operation at his house in Brown's Town, St. Ann on Wednesday morning.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony McLaughlin, who is in charge of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Branch (C-TOC), told Radio Jamaica News the pastor will be questioned for alleged breaches of the Cyber Crimes Act.
The police believe he may be in breach of section 9 of the Act which speaks to persons using a computer for malicious communication, or anything threatening, obscene or menacing.
In the video posted to social media, the pastor rants about the order from the Prime Minister to close churches for the next three weeks.
The pastor prophesied that death will come to Mr. Holness and his family because of his action.
"What he's doing is he's either inciting violence or threatening the Prime Minister," ACP McLaughlin noted.
But Mr. Chambers did not stop there, pouring scorn on parliamentarians and saying they too would face God's wrath for the lockdown.
The self proclaimed pastor has been waging a campaign on social media against Mr. Holness and the Government's measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.
