St. Elizabeth Parish Council, NEPA to discuss development of public beach in Black River

The St. Elizabeth Parish Council says it is still awaiting a meeting with the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), to begin discussions on plans to develop a public beach along Crane Road in Black River. 
      
According to Council records, the land was air marked for development as a public beach by the then Beach Authorities. 
     
Shane Taylor, Director of Planning, told councillors at a recent meeting that the Parish Council is still awaiting a date from NEPA and other stakeholders to put forward plans for the development. 
     
With the closure of the beach at Font Hill, residents in the north of the parish now have to travel to Treasure Beach in South St. Elizabeth, or to Bluefield in Westmoreland to access a beach.
