There has been a steady flow of voters in the general election in Dominica.
The Electoral Commission says 74,895 persons are eligible to cast ballots at the 255 polling stations across the country.
Journalist Carlisle Baptiste, who is in Dominica, said there were a few incidents of alleged irregularities. One such incident reportedly involved a voter taking a picture of his/her ballot. The picture is said to be circulating on social media. There were other reports of persons not being able find their name on the voters' list.
Polling began at 6 a.m. Caribbean time (5 a.m. Jamaican time) and will end at 5 p.m. (4 p.m. Jamaican time).
A ruling Thursday night by the Court of Justice, Dominica's highest court, paved the way for the holding of Friday's polls.
Seven Dominicans, who had brought an application seeking to delay the election, were appealing the ruling of the High Court that it had no jurisdiction.
The Dominicans wanted the names of ineligible voters removed from the list and all objections filed before November 19 dealt with in accordance with the law.
