A loaded submachine gun was seized during a snap raid in the vicinity of the Oak Glades Health Centre in the St. Andrew South Police Division on Tuesday morning.
The police say the high-powered weapon had two 9mm rounds.
No one was arrested.
It's reported that about 6:10 a.m., a team of detectives from the Hunts Bay Criminal Investigations Branch conducted an operation at an open lot near Oak Glades Health Centre, where the MAC-11 9mm submachine gun was found concealed inside an old refrigerator.
The St. Andrew South Police is appealing to members of the public to share any information that can assist in removing illegal guns and ammunition from the streets.
