Suriname: Santokhi moves to block sale of book by Dutch entrepreneur alleging corruption

Suriname President Chandrikapersad Santokhi has moved to block the sale of a book by Dutch entrepreneur Gerard van den Bergh, alleging corruption at the highest level in Suriname.

Through his attorney, Mr Santokhi has sent a writ to the publisher and a bookstore, demanding that the book be immediately withdrawn from the market.

In the book, the Dutch businessman claims that the success of doing business in Suriname depends not only on a personal network but also on political protection.
