A man has been charged in connection with last month's chilling murders of eight residents of Tredegar Park in St. Catherine.
He is 29-year-old telephone technician, Anthony Richards, otherwise called ‘Shortie’ of Spanish Town and a Clarendon address.
Mr. Richards was charged on Friday with eight counts of murder, shooting, illegal possession of a firearm and conspiracy to murder.
He is booked to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court on September 14.
Mr. Richards was taken into custody by the police one week after the incident.
Commanding Officer for the St. Catherine North Division Superintendent Assan Thompson said five other suspects are still in custody and are awaiting an identification parade.
Another suspect, who was picked up by the police, has since been released.
The police are also seeking Isley Williams, otherwise called ‘Judgment’ and Kemar Walker otherwise called ‘Deo’, whom they believe can assist them with their investigations.

Hopelyn Dennis, 43, her daughters 24-year-old Monique Anderson and 11-year-old Angel Anderson as well as her 16-year-old son Joel Anderson; 64-year-old Eldon Heron Senior, his 38-year-old son Eldon Heron Junior, the elder Mr. Heron's 22-year-old grandson Gary Stewart and 26-year-old Orrett Miller were shot dead in the early morning attack.
Meanwhile, the families of the slain persons are to receive assistance from the government.
A release from the Office of the Prime Minister says the Ministry of Labour and Social Security has paid $880,000 to cover funeral expenses.
Three funeral homes, Maddens, Lindo and Sons and Allen's Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
Of the $880,000, $110,000 has been paid to each funeral home.
The remainder of the funds will go to the families to cover other expenses.
Each family will also receive an additional grant of $25,000 as well as mattresses and food packages.
