The police have captured Antwone Grey, the 19-year-old suspect accused of setting his ex-girlfriend Alecia King on fire in Linstead, St. Catherine in August last year.

Grey, otherwise called 'Bad Fowl', was captured Wednesday during a police operation in Central Village, St. Catherine.

This was disclosed by Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communications Unit.

Grey was wanted for attempted murder and assault occasioning grevious bodily harm following an incident on August 24, 2023, where he allegedly doused then 17-year-old Alecia with gas and set her ablaze while she slept.

"We were able to assemble a team from the Central Village Police Station as well as St. Catherine North and he was found at a location on Brown's Lane in Central Village. So he's currently in police custody and is being processed," said SSP Lindsay on Wednesday.

A woman who was found in his company was also taken into custody.

Meanwhile, Alecia King, now 18, returned to Jamaica on Tuesday after receiving treatment for severe burns in the United States following the incident last August.

She had been airlifted with assistance coordinated by the Sanmerna Foundation.
