Police release wanted man

An investigation has been launched into the accidental release of a man who was picked up during an operation in Spanish Town, St. Catherine last week.

According to MIT Head, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Les Green the suspect is wanted in connection with several crimes.

"In relation to the man who was released in St. Catherine North the other day, all I can say is that I do not know why he was released and that is subject to an investigation," said ACP Green.

Last Saturday, more than 100 persons were detained in a joint/police military operation at a dance in Spanish Town.

They were released on Tuesday.

Superintendent Haye also pointed out that the police are usually faced with problems when it comes to releasing pictures of suspects involved in specific cases.

"We have to be careful ... as to release the photographs too early can really compromise our investigations," he said.

Superintendent Haye noted that the police have only two pictures of the 10 most wanted men in the Kingston and St. Andrew Divisions.
