A curfew has been imposed in Cherry Tree Lane in Four Paths, Clarendon.

This was announced by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of crime, Fitz Bailey during a press conference on Monday morning.

The temporary security measure was imposed following Sunday's act of terror in which eight people were killed and nine others wounded at a birthday event.

DCP Bailey said the Police High Command has launched a high level probe into the incident.

The deputy police chief, who indicated that the investigation is at an early stage, said three men, armed with rifles and handguns, carried out the attack.

"Preliminary investigation suggests that the attackers used high-powered firearms indiscriminately, firing on the gatherings. Our teams are working tirelessly to identify the perpetrators and their motives. We have deployed additional resources to the affected area to maintain order, provide support to the victims' families and ensure the community safety," he declared.

He said the police are examining several theories at this time, adding that the attack may be connected to reprisal activities from a few years ago.
