Tesha Miller to serve 15 years

Tesha Miller, leader of the Spanish Town- based Clansman gang, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Miller was convicted Friday morning on charges of robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of firearm, before the Gun Court.

He was sentenced to seven years for the illegal possession and 15 years for robbery.

However, the sentences will run concurrently, meaning that Miller will only serve 15 years.

He was initially sentenced to 12 years on the robbery charge, however prosecutors from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, argued that under the Firearms Act, if a man uses a gun to commit a robbery, the minimum sentence is 15 years.

As a result, the judge adjusted the initial sentence of 12 years to 15.

Prosecutors led evidence that on December 10 last year, Miller and two of his cronies, armed with guns, robbed a motorist of his car in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Miller's defence to file appeal

However, Miller denied the allegations.

He told the court that he was not involved in the incident.

Miller said he was on his way to the Spanish Town police to report as a part of the condition of his bail.

His attorney Bert Samuels says he will be appealing the conviction and sentence.

Meanwhile there was a heavy police/military presence at the Supreme Court building on Friday.

The police also imposed several curfews in areas in which members of the Clansman Gang operate in Spanish Town.

Police raise threat level to EXTREME

And following Friday’s conviction of the Clansman leader and Thursday’s fatal shooting of Amal Roman, 24, otherwise called 'Satan', by the police, the Police High Command is reminding police officers, especially those operating in the parish of St. Catherine, that the threat level against members is EXTREME, which means that violent attacks against members of the security forces are imminent.

Roman was fatally shot in Kent Village, St. Catherine on Thursday.

He was regularly listed as a major person of interest for several murders and shooting incidents as part of the Clansman gang.

In recent days, criminal elements operating in St. Catherine carried out several violent attempts on the lives of police officers.

One of these confrontations resulted in the fatal shooting of another gang member, who was later identified as the brother of Joel Jennings, otherwise called 'J J'.

Jennings was a key member of the Clansman gang who was killed by the police earlier this year.

The Police High Command is also reminding members to take steps necessary to protect themselves, their families and government properties and it is of utmost importance that they remain alert at all times.
