A Texas woman is facing federal charges for allegedly leaving death threats in a voicemail to the chambers of the Jamaican born judge presiding over former President Donald Trump's DC criminal case on alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
Prosecutors say Abigail Jo Shry of Alvin, Texas, called the federal courthouse in Washington and left the threatening message — using a racist term for US District Judge Tanya Chutkan — on August 5.
According to a criminal complaint, investigators traced her phone number and she later admitted to making the threatening call.
In the call, Shry told the judge, who is overseeing the election conspiracy case against Trump, "You are in our sights, we want to kill you,".
Prosecutors allege Shry also threatened to kill the judge if Trump doesn't get elected in 2024.
According to court documents, she threatened to kill US Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, a Texas Democrat running for mayor of Houston.
On Monday, a federal judge in Texas ordered Shry held without bond during a preliminary detention hearing.
