Three British nationals charged with breaches of Dangerous Drugs Act

Three British nationals have been charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act after they were allegedly caught attempting to smuggle cocaine through Norman Manley and Sangster International airports last week.
 
Fifty year-old old Nigel Manning of Northumberland in London, England was arrested at Sangster International on Thursday, March 13.
 
He was subsequently charged on Friday with Possession of Cocaine, Dealing in Cocaine, Attempting to Export Cocaine and Conspiracy.
 
The Firearms & Narcotics Investigation Division reported that, about 3:20 p.m., its personnel were conducting security screening at Sangster for passengers boarding a flight destined for London Gatwick Airport. During the screening, Mr Manning reportedly aroused the suspicion of the police. 
 
It's reported that a subsequent search of his luggage revealed seven frozen coconuts containing approximately four kilograms or nine 9 pounds of cocaine. The drug has an estimated street value of 128 thousand pounds or 26 million Jamaican dollars.
 
Mr Manning's arrest came one day after detectives arrested, separately, two British nationals for the same offence at Norman Manley International Airport.
 
Fifty-one year-old Derrick Winston and 41-year-old Lisa Wood, both of Sand Way Road, Orrington in England have been charged with Possession of Cocaine, Dealing in Cocaine, Attempting to Export Cocaine and Conspiracy.
 
They were held with a combined 14.2 kilogrammes, or 31 pounds of the drug, valued at £454,400 pounds or J$92.7 million.
 
The drug was concealed in their suitcases.
