A transport owner is complaining about inconsistencies in the Transport Authority's ticketing policy.
Meleasha Watson King is crying foul after her driver was fined by inspectors on Tuesday morning for failing to issue tickets to passengers.
Mrs Watson-King told RJR News that, upon applying for a licence to operate on the Manchester-to-Grove Town route, she was informed that it was a requirement to issue tickets to passengers. She said, when she enquired about the cost of the ticket book, she was informed that there was none in stock.
She claimed that, despite several subsequent checks, the ticket books were still not available, and even after Tuesday's incident, when she returned to the Transport Authority to procure the ticket books, there was none.
She said employee at the Mandeville Transport Office then told her that transport operators should make their own ticket books.
Mrs. Watson King wants the Transport Authority to clarify its policy and communicate this to its employees and transport operators.
Clarification
When contacted, the Transport Authority sought to clarify its ticket book policy.
Donald Foster, Managing Director, said ticket books are only issued for some routes.
This means that other operators have to supply their own books.
But Mr. Foster admitted that this policy had not been communicated to the transport operators.
