Maurice Tomlinson
Gay rights activist Maurice Tomlinson has stepped up his fight to challenge Television Jamaica's refusal to air a 30-second advertisement to encourage tolerance for homosexuals in Jamaica.
He has filed an application for leave to appeal to the UK Privy Council - Jamaica's final appellate court.
The move follows the dismissal of his case by the Court of Appeal in October.
Mr. Tomlinson sued Television Jamaica and CVM Television for their decision not to air the commercial, but the Supreme Court ruled they had a right to make the decision.
He appealed this decision but the Court of Appeal dismissed the case.
In his appeal for leave, Mr. Tomlinson argues that the matter involves issues of significant public importance because they relate to the Constitution.
