Trinidad and Tobago moving to ensure it receives COVID vaccines from the US

The Trinidad and Tobago government on Tuesday said it is moving to ensure that the twin island republic is on the list of countries that will receive vaccine doses from the United States.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Amery Browne, responding to an opposition question in the Senate, told legislators that he has also met with the Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy to discuss the matter.

The United States on Monday announced that it will share an additional 20 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines with the world in the coming six weeks as domestic demand for shots drops.

Dr. Browne told the Senate that Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, who is also the chairman of CARICOM, has been leading the advocacy with high level influential figures in the US administration.
