Trump requests release of Epstein court documents

US President Donald Trump has requested the release of court documents relating to notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

His Attorney General Pam Bondi said Friday the Trump administration is ready to unseal grand jury transcripts, but it could take some time for a judge to release the documents.

Elsewhere, the Wall Street Journal has reported that Trump's name appeared on a "bawdy" 2003 personal note to Epstein. However, the president has distanced himself, describing the note as fake.

Trump has threatened to sue media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and the newspaper over the story, describing it as false, malicious and defamatory.

During his presidential campaign, Trump promised to release files relating to Epstein. He faces mounting pressure from his own supporters and US media after Ms. Bondi said the US Justice Department did not believe Epstein had a so-called client list.
