T&T probes Venezuela's claim of paramilitary border breach

Trinidad and Tobago has launched an investigation into allegations of the infiltration of Colombian paramilitary groups into eastern Venezuela through Trinidad.

Trinidad's Defence Ministry says preliminary findings indicate that there is currently no evidence to support these allegations.

But the ministry says it is taking immediate and decisive steps to address the matter with the utmost seriousness and urgency.

Additionally, the ministry says it will be engaging with Venezuelan counterparts through the appropriate diplomatic channels to gather any relevant information that could assist the probe.

Venezuela announced that the men it captured were carrying weapons of war and attempted to breach its border through Trinidad and Tobago.
