Two members of the Guyana Defence Force were arrested by police on Thursday after they were found in possession of 22 bags containing 154 lbs of cannabis.
A release from the police said the two were nabbed during a joint police/military operation.
The soldiers were in a motor vehicle which was stopped and searched and 22 bags of cannabis reportedly found.
The GDF says it does not condone such behaviour and is fully cooperating with the police as the incident is a departure from the character of the organisation.
