UCASE and Caribbean Cement sign new compensation deal for workers

The  Union  of  Clerical  Administrative  and  Supervisory  Employees [UCASE]] and  the  management  of  Caribbean Cement  Company have reached  a  new wage and fringe benefits agreement.
 
The agreement, which covers the period July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027, was signed on Monday following an 18-month stalemate between the parties.
 
Under the agreement, production workers are to receive a 21 per cent wage increase over the contract period. 
 
Other highlights of the agreement include Call Out Allowance, moving from $4,400 to $5,290 dollars, an increase in scholarship benefits for children of employees, motor vehicle loans increases and payment for the profit sharing scheme of two per cent of basic pay.
 
The workers will also benefit from a four weeks' pay signing bonus.
 
The agreement, concluded at the Ministry of Labour, also  provides for health and safety, and for special  discomfort and environmental matters to be discussed at a future date between the management and the union.
