UK trio caught in cocaine smuggling racket

A teenager from the United Kingdom faces deportation from Jamaica after her mother was jailed for attempting to smuggle drugs out of the country.

Charges against Toni Bellamy, 17, of Park End, Middlesbrough, were dropped on Friday when she appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

She was ordered to be sent back to the UK following her acquittal.

Her mother, Andrea Henry, 39, was however sentenced to six months imprisonment for attempting to smuggle cocaine.

Henry's partner Wayne Walshaw was sentenced to 12 months for the same charge.

The trio was arrested at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay last week on suspicion of swallowing packages of cocaine.

They were due to board a flight to Manchester.
