Union and UTECH locked in marathon meeting

A meeting was in progress into the wee hours of Wednesday morning as the administration of the University of Technology (UTECH) and the union representing disgruntled internal auditors attempted to finalise a back work formula.

The meeting started at nine Tuesday night.

At newstime our News Centre was unable to make contact with Union representatives.

Although the auditors returned to work more than a week ago, they are yet to resume duties.

They are demanding an apology from the University for sending them on leave two weeks ago as part of an investigation into the leaking of a highly sensitive document to the media.

After coming under pressure from the National Workers Union, UTECH's administration said the workers could return.

The NWU said it conducted an investigation and found no evidence that the auditors were involved in the document being leaked.
