Curtis Ward, a former Jamaican representative at the UN Security Council, has characterised the US military intervention in Venezuela and capture of its president, Nicolar Maduro as a breach of international law. He also fears the future of Venezuela is now uncertain after Saturday’s attack by the United States.
But, Ambassador Ward, speaking with Radio Jamaica News, said this outcome, following months of escalating tension, should not have come as a surprise.
Ambassador Ward has said the US will seek to justify the capture and extraction of the Venezuelan leader as a lawful military exercise, but he countered that it should be condemned as a violation of international law.
