US secretary of state Antony Blinken says there is overwhelming evidence Venezuela's opposition won the recent presidential election.
In a statement, Mr Blinken said it was clear Edmundo González, had won the most votes—despite incumbent president Nicolás Maduro declaring a disputed victory.
His intervention comes as the presidents of Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia all called for Venezuela to release the full details of last Sunday's election.
Meanwhile, Mr Maduro has asked Venezuela's top court to audit the voting tallies with a view to confirming the results provided by the National Electoral Council.
