Veteran educator Clover Thompson is dead

Veteran educator and longstanding Returning Officer for the Kingston Western constituency Clover Thompson is dead.

Thompson who migrated to Miami in 2004, was ailing for sometime.

According to a source close to the educator, she was suffering from kidney related problems and underwent an operation in January. She was hospitalised up to the time of her passing late Sunday.

Clover Thompson was Principal of Denham Town Primary from 1968 to 1990 and left for the Denham Town High School where she led the charge from 1990 to 2003 where she went off on pre-retirement leave.She was succeeded by current Principal Audrey Williams. 

Thompson was  Lasco Teacher of the Year in 2003 and served as a member of the Lay Magistrates Association for many year including in the capacity of President. She also served as Returning Officer for the Kingston Western constituency during  turbulent 70's and 80s.
