Christopher “Dudus” Coke refused to answer most of the 182 questions posed to him during a June 23, 2010 interview at Up Park Camp, following his arrest.
This was revealed during Wednesday’s sitting of the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry by Superintendent Michael Phipps, who said a two-and-a-half hour interview was conducted with Coke in the presence of his attorney George Soutar.
During cross-examination by Commission Counsel, Garth McBean, Superintendent Phipps said Coke answered only 12 questions.
He reportedly refused to answer questions regarding how he managed to leave Tivoli Gardens, as well as his role in the violence during the height of the security forces operation. The former drug lord refused to answer, saying that he was doing so on the advice of his attorneys.
INDECOM concerns
Commissioner of INDECOM Terrence Williams, during his cross-examination of Superintendent Phipps, voiced raised concern that no spent shell from the May 2010 operation was submitted for ballistic testing.
Williams said a witness had given evidence at the Enquiry that she handed over spent shells, hence his questioning as to why no mention of them was made on the ballistic certificate.
