RJR News has been informed that Xerox Jamaica, a major player in the local Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, has shed hundreds of jobs.

The company, which is to lose a major account at the end of next month, has reportedly sent home a little more than 300 workers from its Portmore location.

RJR News understands that 95 employees will remain to man services.

Xerox also has locations in New Kingston and Newport West, as well as Montego Bay, St. James.

When RJR News contacted Xerox's main office we were told that the Country Director was out of office today and will be back on Tuesday.

Diane Edwards, President of JAMPRO, said she was not aware of the situation and would make enquiries.
