Animal production and meat safety on the agenda for regional meeting

Animal production and meat safety are among the main issues to be discussed  at the 5th General Assembly of the Caribbean Animal Health Network [CaribVET], currently on in St Vincent & The Grenadines.

The event is being attended by Veterinarians from across the region.

The forum provides an opportunity to discuss climate change and its impact on farmers and their livestock and find solutions.

The host Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar says the meeting takes place at a time when the region is looking to reduce the food import bill of Caribbean member states by twenty-five per cent by 2025.

CARICOM has called for a collective effort in tackling the issue of food security, along with matters affecting animal health, including Influenza found in Cattle.
