Barbados affirms commitment to CARICOM's food import reduction initiative

Barbados says that despite several setbacks, it remains on track to meaningfully contribute to CARICOM's initiative to reduce the extra-regional food import bill.

The regional grouping is hoping to reduce the external food bill by 25 percent by the end of this year.

Barbados says it has been deliberate and strategic in ensuring a shift towards climate-smart agriculture and technological innovation to boost production.

To further bolster the country's initiative, it has developed partnerships with companies from Canada and the Netherlands to introduce advanced agricultural technologies and practices.
