Concern over US State Dept report on St Lucia

St. Lucian tourism officials are concerned about the impact a US State Department Human Rights Report will have on tourist arrivals.

Director of Tourism, Louis Lewis says crime will deter persons from visiting and will hinder the promotion of the country as a destination.

The findings of the report stated that fatal police killings, violence against women, child abuse, and corruption are serious issues that need to be addressed by the country.

Mr. Lewis added that the report has caused the board to change its direction in making the country a sustainable tourism market.
