The European Union (EU) has named several Caribbean countries on a list of international tax havens.
The EU says Wednesday’s published list is part of an action plan to crack down on multi-national companies trying to avoid paying tax.
It has listed Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Grenada, Panama, St Vincent & the Grenadines, St Kitts & Nevis, and Turks & Caicos among 30 countries operating as tax havens.
The European Commission has made proposals, including reforms to end sweetheart tax deals, following a series of investigations into arrangements between EU countries and firms, including Amazon, Apple and Starbucks.
