Guyana reports sharp reduction in unemployment

Guyana has reported a sharp reduction in the country's unemployment figure.
 
President Irfaan Ali, revealing the figures, said 104,000 jobs were created during the period 2020 to 2024, coupled with rising wages across multiple sectors.
 
He said during that period unemployment fell from 12.8 per cent to 6.8 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2024
 
The Guyana President pointed to a significant drop in female unemployment which fel from 14.4 per cent to less than nine per cent.
