The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States is seeking to strengthen and promote fair competition across member states for enhanced economic efficiency and consumer welfare.
Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of International Trade, & Consumer Affairs for St Kitts & Nevis, has underscored the importance of trade to the survival of the economies of the region.
Dr Douglas, a former prime minister, said St. Kitts & Nevis remains committed to stimulating economic activity through the day-to-day transaction of purchases and providing an enabling environment to allow businesses to thrive.
He stressed that profitability must not infringe the rights of consumers, nor should it be accompanied by business practices geared at placing other companies within the market at a disadvantage
He added that the Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis has enacted laws to stamp out any trace of anti-competitive business practices which may exist locally.
