Public sector workers in Antigua & Barbuda to receive back pay

The Government of Antigua & Barbuda has announced the imminent disbursement of the final tranche of back pay to public sector workers under the 2018–2023 wage agreement.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who's also the country's Finance Minister,  said the Treasury is handling the third retroactive payout under the contract, with payments to serving employees expected to be wrapped up by Thursday.

He said workers who have left the public service, including retirees, are due to receive their balances by the end of the week.

Browne said the disbursements span the full range of government employment categories, from established and non-established staff to weekly and monthly paid workers.

He added that with the previous negotiating cycle now closed, the administration intends to keep compensation current going forward.
