NWC restores water supply to Rose Heights, St. James

The National Water Commission (NWC) says portable water supply has now been restored to the remaining section of Rose Heights in Montego Bay, St. James following remedial work to valves along the network.

The NWC says over the last two weeks technical teams have worked tirelessly to restore supply to the entire community.

However, the commission says follow-up field checks and customer feedback indicated that residents along two to three roadways were still experiencing water challenges even after the wider area was restored.

These locations were targeted over the last 48 hours and were successfully restored on Monday.

The NWC says it understands the frustration experienced by affected residents, but notes that blockages, airlocking and displaced pipe infrastructure are typical occurrences following a hurricane.

Some residents of Rose Heights on Monday staged a second protest in less than a week, after complaining that they had been without the service for more than three months.
