T&T authorities seize more than TT$29 million worth of marijuana

Security authorities in Trinidad & Tobago intercepted a vessel off the Point Fortin coastline on Fiday and seized more than TT$29 million worth of marijuana. 
 
The operation reportedly followed intelligence received on Thursday indicating a large consignment of Colombian marijuana was being transported from Venezuela to Trinidad aboard a fishing vessel.
 
During the interception, several large bags were thrown overboard, and three occupants escaped into the sea. 
 
Two individuals, one a Trinidadian were detained, while nine bags containing 268 packets of ganja —totaling 268 kilograms—were recovered. 
 
The detained suspects, vessel, and narcotics were taken into custody.
