US sanctions on Venezuela has implications for Trinidad & Tobago - Rowley

Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago Dr Keith Rowley has noted that the twin-island state is not immune to the recent sanctions leveled against Venezuela by the United States.

The US reimposed oil sanctions on Venezuela over what it said was the Nicolas Maduro government's failure to adhere to democratic principles ahead of elections in July.

Uncertainty now looms over Trinidad & Tobago's 's 30-year Exploration and Production Licence from Venezuela for the Dragon gas field.

But Dr Rowley says his country has built relationships and promotes its interests to mitigate against the effects of the sanctions.
