Curacao's Government is expressing concern that the Zika virus may be more easily transmitted that previously thought.
There are two confirmed cases of the Zika virus present in Curacao.
Sigfried Victorina, Minister of Public Health, has noted that, given Curacao's proximity to Venezuela, Suriname and Brazil, the island may find its borders more than a little compromised.
In addition, it is now reported that the virus, which is typically transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, could also be sexually transmitted.
