Australia were in complete control on the opening day of the 4th ashes test against host England at Chester-Le-Street.
England who elected to bat were struggling at 199-8 in the post tea session with Tim Bresnan 3 and Graeme Swaan yet to score, the batsmen at the crease.
Spinner Nathan Lyon has been the main destroyer so far with 4-37.
Captain Alaistair cook made 51 and Jonathan Trott 49.
England have already retained the ashes with one test match to go.
