'Boogie Man' beats 'Golden Child' to reach Contender quarter finals

Team USA’s Rashid ‘The Boogie Man’ Stevens made a winning professional debut on Wednesday night when he defeated Team Caribbean’s Cameon ‘Golden Child’ Goldson by unanimous decision in the penultimate fight in round 1 of the Contender Series Welterweight Championship at the Chinese Bevevolent Association.

Stevens who improved in the latter rounds, won 49-46; 49-46 and 50-45 on the judges’ scorecards. The ‘Boogey Man’ Stevens is the second American to reach the quarterfinals after Demarcus Corley.

The last quarter final spot will be up for grabs next Wednesday when  team Caribbean’s Miguel Antione, the number 1 ranked boxer in the competition takes on Daniel Powell of Team USA.
