Close to 20 schools to miss "Champs" following effects of Hurricane Melissa

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Daniel McLeod

ISSA president Keith Wellington says the fallout from Hurricane Melissa on schools in Western Jamaica will force close to 20 schools in that part of the island to miss out on this year’s staging of the Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships.

Wellington says the devastation caused by the Category 5 Hurricane was just too much for some schools to recover from in three months.

Wellington says even the schools from Western Jamaica that committed to participating this year are facing significant challenges. The ISSA Boys and Girls Championships will run from March 24-28 at the National Stadium.
