Damar Forbes finally lands gold

After several runner up performances Jamaican Olympian Damar Forbes finally landed gold at the NCAA Division One Outdoor Championship by securing the long jump title at the Top US College event in Eugene Oregon Thursday night. In his final Major College Championship the Louisiana State University senior leapt a wind assisted 8.35 meters to secure the gold.

He was over 30 centimetres better than Raymond Higgs of Arkansas who leapt 8.03 meters for second. Another Jamaican, former Wolmers athlete Kamal Fuller placed 6th with a wind legal 7.83 meter effort.

Natoya Goule,  800 meters star, will lead six other Jamaicans in finals later Friday.
