West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been drafted by the new Rajkot franchise for the Indian Premier League 2016 T20 tournament.
This player draft was necessary with the addition of two new teams, the Rajkot and Pune franchises for IPL 2016 and 2017 to make up for the suspended Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals franchises following a graft scandal.
Bravo who previously represented the Chennai Superkings, was drafted for 40 million rupees or US $597,000.
Another West Indian, Dwayne Smith was not as lucky as he went unsold and will now be auctioned in Bangalore in February.
Meanwhile, Pune paid US $1.8 million for India’s ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni while Rajkot chose New Zealand's Brendan McCullum for US$1.1 million.
Both Chennai and Rajasthan are expected to return to the IPL after their bans end following the 2017 edition.
