Former national basketball player Kimani Ffriend says there needs to be role models in the sport to help raise the profile of the sport locally. Ffriend, who played professionally in Europe for over a decade, says basketball can be just as successful as the leading sports in Jamaica but the players just need that extra bit of motivation.
Darren Sorensen who was one of the directors of the recent Jamaica Classic Basketball Tournament held in Montego Bay, says there also needs to be more resources for the youngsters to play, adding that the human resources need to improve.
