Former Sunshine Girl Carla Borrego now Australian citizen

RJR Sports Online has confirmed that former Sunshine Girl Goal Attack Carla Borrego is now clear to represent Australia if invited to do so. She was granted her citizenship on Monday and swore her allegiance to Australia, its citizens and laws.

It also means Borrego could play for the Australia Diamonds against the Sunshine Girls at the World Championships in Sydney this summer.

Borrego played for the Sunshine Girls in the 2003 World Championships here in Jamaica. She  now represents the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Australia New Zealand (ANZ) Netball Championship. The 31-year-old Borrego is the 7th highest scorer in the league's history.
