Former Windies fast bowler deported from New Zealand

Former Jamaica and West Indies cricketer Franklyn Rose has lost his battle against deportation from New Zealand and has been sent back to Jamaica.

Rose, who moved to New Zealand in 2011, had spent the last five weeks imprisoned at Central Auckland's Mt Eden Prison.

Immigration New Zealand detained the Jamaican two years after he was served with a deportation order for living there illegally.

In 2014, the batsman and right-arm bowler, who played 19 test matches for the West Indies, was served the deportation notice.

According to the website stuff.co.nz   Rose's lawyer, says New Zealand's Immigration Minister Craig Foss had declined a "special direction" order based on "humanitarian circumstances" which would have stayed his deportation on Tuesday.

Rose played 19 tests and 27 ODI’s for the West Indies after making his debut in 1997 and actually  toured New Zealand in the 1999-2000 season.
