Former champions West Coast Fever delivered a statement victory when they defeated the New South Wales Swifts 79-68 in their Suncorp Super Netball League top of the table clash over the weekend.
Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard led the way for the fever with 71 goals from 72 attempts. The win by the fever ended the 8-game unbeaten run by the Swifts.
Elsewhere, defending champions, the Adelaide Thunderbirds went down 66-63 to the Giants, despite Sunshine Girl Romelda Aiken-George scoring 49 goals from 55 attempts.
Another Sunshine Girl, Shimona Jok, converted 30 goals from 31 attempts, but the Melbourne Mavericks went down 66-57 to the Melbourne Vixens in their hometown derby.
The Swifts remain leaders on 32 points, 4 ahead of the Fever with Sunshine Coast Lightning next on 24 and the Vixens on 20 points, rounding out the top four.
