Frater alone stands out for JA in Guadeloupe

Olympic finalist Michael Frater was the best placed Jamaican at the International Region meeting in Guadeloupe Friday night.

Frater returned 10.39 seconds for third place in the 100 metres won by American Craig Dixon in 10.34 seconds.

Fellow Jamaican Sherri Ann Brooks was fifth in 11.42 seconds in the women's event won by American Camillita Jetter in 11.16 seconds.

Ricardo Williams in 21.01 seconds and Steve Slowly in 21.79 seconds were fifth and seventh respectively in the 200 metres won by 2004 Olympic champion Shawn Crawford in 20.59 seconds.

There were world leading performances by Americans Lashawn Merritt who clocked 44.50 seconds in the 400 metres, Dwight Phillips who leapt 8.51 metres in the long jump and Lashinda Demus who clocked 54.17 seconds in the 400 metre hurdles.
