Gayle now 10th in ICC test batting rankings

Following his outstanding career best 333 against Sri Lanka in the just concluded opening test in Galle, Chris Gayle has achieved his highest ever International Cricket Council's (ICC's) test ranking.

Gayle has rocketed 11 places to lie now at number 10, behind South Africa's Hashim Amla who is number 9.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul is the highest ranked West Indian at number six in the rankings being led by India's Sachin Tendulkar.

Bowlers Kemar Roach and Shane Shillingford have also achieved career best rankings following their performance in the opening test against Sri Lanka.

Roach has climbed to 33 while Shillingford is now 58th in the rankings being led by South Africa's Dale Steyn.
