Goodison to resume playing for Trenmere Rovers, pending outcome of court case

Despite spot fixing allegations in England, Ian 'Pepe' Goodison, a former Jamaica National footballer, will be free to return to playing for Tranmere Rovers, once he recovers from injury.

Ronnie Moore, Manager of Tranmere Rovers, says Goodison, who was among six men detained by police over spot fixing allegations, one week ago, is  free to carry on playing for the club.

The manager says Goodison and teammate Akpo Sodje must be treated as innocent until proven guilty.

Goodison, who was detained and questioned by police on December 9, was released on bail until April.

The Jamaican, who is viewed as a legend of League One side Tranmere Rovers, is the oldest outfield player in English Football, at 41, having made his debut for Tranmere  in 2004. He has made 400 appearances for the club.
